T MOON RANGERS AND FLYING SAUCERS: THE BOX ART

This unusual boxed Moon Ranger flying saucer appeared on the bay recently. Its by Hong Kong maker T in a Circle [real name Tai Hing]. It shows the saucer flying above a planet on a dark blue to black background.

T Moon Rangers usually have the box art shown below, where basically just the flying saucer is illustrated with a light blue background. No planet's surface is used [Scoop picked up the Clifford version of this recently].

T have used a dark background before on the similar UFO box shown here but there's no planet on this one style either.

Oddly enough it's the box of their much smaller New Flying Saucer, which comes closest to the Moon Ranger box with a planet shown. In fact I would say it's the same background. What do you think readers and how did T do this? Paint over the original artwork or create wholly new original art?
