For years I've been seeing boxes of 007 rubber bands at Toy Fairs. My good friend Ferryman told me that a genuine 007 rubber band would have coloured patches along the rubber.
The cynical side of me reckoned that these boxes of rubber bands were fakes. A photocopied card box containing a bunch of modern rubber bands form the pound shop.
So, along with Scoop, we thought we'd check a box out at Doncaster Toy Fair. We picked a random box, which was quite worn and had a look.
Lo and behold, the rubber bands did indeed have little coloured patches running along them! They were real. I will not be quite so cynical in future.

Do you have any 007 merchandise readers?
Very cool! Something you just don't expect would exist; yet it does.
ReplyDeleteI've got an actual 1973 set of the James Bond Tarot deck from Live And Let Die. Its got the blue backs and came with a folded card layout sheet. I used to have a mini tabletop standup for the James Bond 1980 pinball machine. Essentially the lower half of this http://www.bamhead.com/DCP08476.jpg but cutout around the figures and was on a reddish background. I'll have to hunt around and see if I still have it.
