Another model from the Batman Automobilia collection, this
time the Batcycle, first seen in the 1966 ‘Batman’ movie, the big budget film
based on the TV series.
Although a Batcycle based
around a Harley Davidson bike and side car made an earlier appearance in
the first season TV episode, ‘Not Yet He Ain’t’, it would be some months before
a more regular TV Batcycle would be unveiled.
Like the iconic Batmobile, the customised Batcycle was built
around an already existing vehicle, the sporty, Yamaha 250 cc Catalina.. Custom company,
Kustomotive set to work creating
a customised bat bike complete with a detachable 55cc motorised go-cart set in
the side car for Robin.
I do like this Eaglemoss rendition, although unlike other
models of the Batcycle, like the Hot-Wheels version for example, this doesn’t
have a detachable go-cart. No matter,
like all the models in the Batman Automobilia collection, this Batcycle is purely
a display item.
Apart from the customised
aspects on the Batcycle, I really love
the actual motorcycle detail on this model. You can see a tiny kick starter and
gear lever on one side and a little rear brake pedal on the other,as well as nice speedometer detail.
The 3D lenticular backdrop shows which the entrance to the Batcave.
This model gets the thumbs up from me simply for the detail, although I would have liked figures of Batman and Robin on board. So far Eaglemoss generally goes to town when they've got a real life vehicle to work off, I'm hoping there's a Batcopter in the pipeline.
"To the Batcycle, Robin!"
Hi there. You're doing a wonderful job in your blog. I have a question, i'm looking for a batcycle 1966 to be in a similar scale to my 1:18 1966 batmobile and i' ve been looking first from the Polar lights model-kit, that in theory is 1:24 scale but in reality is 1:19 and second the 1:12 from hot wheels. And i just checked the eaglemoss 1:43 scale in a video and i realized that is bigger in proportion than the batmobiles in same scale from eaglemoss. And i just want to know if it is big enough to be near to the 1:18 scale and get one. I hope you can help me with any information about it. Kind regards and happy new year buddy
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm not sure what the precise scale of the Eaglemoss Batcycle is,but I wouldn't think it was comparable to the 1:18 scale Batmobile. It's probably closer to 1:25 scale.
DeleteHi, thanks for your kind reply. I took the chance and i bought it. I'll checked and i'll tell you if it works or not. Have a nice day buddy and keep going with your excellent blog.
