Like many of you no doubt I have been Christmas Shopping this weekend. Fortunately it was for my small Godchildren so it meant a visit to a toy shop. Not so bad then. There were tons of Batman, Superman and Beyblade toys and huge boxed sets of plastic soldiers and tanks called The Corps.
What we opted for in the end included a set of Octonauts by Fisher Price. It reminded so much of the sort of boxed set I got as a kid especially Billy Blastoff and Colorforms Outer Space Men: a plastic figure, a cool vehicle and a few neat accessories. Yeha! Like the good old days! I wanted to open it up and have a play!
Do you have any toys to buy for anyone this Christmas readers?
Sadly, the only young people on my shopping list are at or approaching college age, so I can't use them as an excuse to go toy shopping. Maybe a decade from now...!
ReplyDeleteI only just heard of the Octonauts because here in the States, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have set up a partnership to provide them with authentic science info for use on the show. For years I'd been wishing for a scientifically-based aquatic show to help kids think of the oceans as something exciting and adventurous, the same way Stingray did for me...and it turns out this was already happening without me knowing about it!
These things make such a huge difference. Seeing kids visiting an aquarium after the copiously researched Finding Nemo eager to learn more about the real species because of their animated counterparts is just lovely. More sea adventure for kids, I say!
My son is 16 now but at Christmas there Is Always a box of Lego for him:)(and One for me too)ew :)
