The Surveyor
2 from the later SpaceX range. A nice design
which first appeared on the cover of an Analog magazine in 1961.
Thanks to
some of Woodsy’s legendary research we also now know it was painted by the late John
Schoenherr.
As us
Swordies know, the Surveyor design had previously turned up in the Project Sword
annual as The Moon Crawler.
Sadly, A
Sword Moon Crawler never made it to the final range but at least it did see
light of day amongst the SpaceX toys.
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteScoop, the more of these toys I see on your excellent diorama base the more I feel the need to get off my dead butt and build one too. My SpaceX/Imperial Toy/Golden Astronaut collection is growing steadily and they deserve a nice setting.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias folks. Yep , I must admit even a simple diorama does help in the presentation.
ReplyDeleteEasily one of my most favourite spacex, ever.
ReplyDeleteLovely toy and lovely photos Mike. If only SWORD had made a bigger version. I'd love to see the Japanese models of it next to the Spacex one.
