Glow In the Dark toys, what can I say. They were simply the best. During the Sixties they were everywhere, energised by the Universal monster craze.
The most famous Glow in The Dark toys back then were Aurora's Frightnin Lightinin monster models, making luminous virtually a household world. But small bits of lots of toys were given a dab of glow paint, which often you only found out about when the lights went out!
My favourite glow toys were without a doubt, Glow Globs. I absolutely loved them. What were your favourite glow toys?
i had a glow in the dark moonball, basically a sickly green coloured superball that was charged up by electic light, then you lashed it at the floor and watched it shoot around in the dark. Figured out one year that a charge from a flash gun really got the ball rolling!
ReplyDeleteKenner toys produced another Glow-In-The-Dark item called Lightning Bug Glow Juice.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen that since 1967 or so.
Are you familiar with this?
Yes, I remember it well. We painted it on everything, including ourselves. Lots of fun in the dark!
DeleteKenner made a toy called Fireball that was a translucent plastic ball with glow in the dark liquid inside. It was tough enough to be used for night baseball. It took lots of punishment and lasted for many years. It was my favorite toy and one of the best toys of all time.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for telling me the name of that ball. I've been searching for it for ages, even a photo, without luck as I did not know the name of it. I recall it came in two sizes, one was baseball size and one slightly larger.
DeleteGlad Moonbase could help!
DeleteFireball was produced by Kenner in 1968.
