Hi Woodsy
I upgraded my 2001 Space Glider last year. The labels
on the cover reveal some interesting facts. The name on the largest one, Sze
International Ltd., is perhaps the HK agent - which might well be the same as
the still-operational Kam Sze International Ltd. based in Hong Kong. The model
number on the label is T2001 (where T must stand for - Tycho? Tarheel? :-),
whereas on the box it is just plain 2001.
There is also the wholesale price of
6.05 for 24 pcs. written on. The two smaller white price tags have some cryptic
markings: H DN/KS and K I/CS (upper), C/IS and K/BK (lower). They may have
something to do with samples. However, the red price tag of the German special
price DM 39.90 is interesting as the 10-89 on the upper right might indicate the
month and year of the stock. Which would put 2001 Space Glider as late as 1989
if interpreted correctly! I always thought of it as a late 70's-early 80's item.
What do you think?

It looks like a Northrop HL-10 from the six million dollar man.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted Warren, though it is rather the other Northrop model M2-F2, which lacks the center tail fin. M2-F2's connection to Space Glider design has been discussed before (brings also back that interesting "803 case").
