Is it possible to see, with the naked eye, the tri-star system, which contains the next nearest star Proxima Centauri and neighbour Alpha Centauri?
We were treated to some amazingly clear skies this weekend and I've never seen as many stars looking as bright in the night sky.
Anyone else have a super starry night?
Living next to a main road is a bit of a problem as there always a lot of light pollution from the street lamps. But if i sneak out into the garden, theres an area of deep shadow which allows a beautiful view of the sky. I watched the Leonid meteor shower last year and often get my reflecting telescope out to watch the moon. Ive not been able to see any planets yet, but thats more because the telescope isnt massivley powerful and i dont quite know which way to look!
