Whilst photographing my collection for FAB I found something I didn't even know I had! Wrapped in tissue and tucked behind some card in my Zero X box was the SUPREMO badge! It's coloured white and is the highest ranked badge. You can see the lot pictured here. Anyone else got SUPREMO? Check your OX!
I have a theory that the ranks corresponded to the prices of the toys: astroanut - cheaper toys, Captain - bit dearer, Commander - dear, Supremo - expensive! Just a theory. It could equally be totally to do with the strip and the logistics of the SWORD universe. But Century 21 did need to sell those toys to us kids!
Trust the Lord of Sword to find the highest ranking badge!
ReplyDeleteNo, the 'Lord' badge only came with the Moon Base Set! So no-one's got one! hee hee.
ReplyDeleteDo you think piloting the Zero X merited Supremo status? Don't think there is one in the SWORD strip [Shaqui/Toad help!]. Isn't the highest comic rank Commander? Rapier and one other. I need to check the strip.
You found a badge you didn't know you had? LOL. Are you sure you don't have the actual Moonbase stashed away and forgotten too?
ReplyDeleteI reckon the ranks corresponded with the price tag, too!
ReplyDelete"Are you sure you don't have the actual Moonbase stashed away and forgotten too?"
ReplyDeleteI agree too Toad, that's why no one can find any anywhere, Woodsy has the whole limited production stashed away in his Moon safe in his infamous loft!
I wish! It's Loft Property I'm afraid. Ha ha. But somewhere there's a whole stack of them boxed and hidden by decades of junk, crates and mannekins! Where Oh where did the one that Andy B saw go? In the meantime we'll have to enjoy the large Spacex Moon Base Set [anyone got one?] and Super Sets - you still got one Ed?
ReplyDeleteNo...I have one or two tiny remnants of the set, a chassis or two of a couple of vehicles and one or two golden astronauts.
ReplyDeleteThe only consolation I have about it is that it was one of the only toys I had that didn't end up in the hands of my evil younger cousin...I actually sort of played with the Spacex set until it disintegrated.
So only the rich kids got the Supremo badges, eh? Typical bloody capitalists. Money buys rank. Pfffft.
ReplyDeleteCome the revolution ...
"Come the revolution ..."
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Toad!
Toad, we must start work on the designs for a guillotine that works in zero gravity...hehe.
ReplyDeleteSolidarity, bro! (gives the clenched fist salute) ^_^
ReplyDeleteStrangely enough, I just bought a space glider at a toy fair,, NEC and in the bottom of the box guess what,,, a Supremo badge.
ReplyDeleteWhats the chances.
Yeah, what are the chances! You were lucky there! The Supremo badge only normally appeared in the Century 21 Zero X. I wonder of this was a boob in the toy factory or a change in badge at some point since? What do you think?
