PANTHRO ON THE ROPES

 The local boot sale was a fine affair this morning on my day off, with plenty of stalls and plenty of May sunshine.

Before I photograph what I did get, here are a few things I passed on, owing to either price or condition [these are photos from the internet and not the actual examples I was seeing].

Boxers

Asking price £15

I liked this a lot and have seen a version with Mohamed Ali. Alas, the set I inspected had two of the levers missing, one with the corner housing torn away, which would be hell to replace. I don't know the name of this toy or its maker/ year. Do you?

Manta Force Command Ship and Accessories

Asking Price £20

This loose set seemed to be all there and I have bought and sold several over the years including complete boxed versions. This was just too dear for me today but nice to see.

Panthro

Asking Price £20

This loose figure was the most over-priced today. I have always had a soft spot for Thundercats and have bought and sold tons of the 80's figures over the years.

The boot sale Panthro had a weapon but not the correct one, which should be a set of nunchakus.

Would you have passed or purchased readers?

OFF THE CUFF

 This is a strange mash-up of a toy I saw on Ebay. 

I really like the old fashioned header art showing a British bobby in London [not sure which street] with a double decker bus. Its unpunched too!

But then the toy is odd. OK, the handcuffs and whistle go well with the bobby but surely not the Marshall's star with the cowboy picture? Is it Roy Rogers?

This was on Ebay in the US. Overall I like the 60's feel of the whole thing.

Woodsy, Here's a flipped and cropped copy of the image you posted. I have to admit I'm having a heckuva time trying to figure out who's image this is but it's not Roy Rogers. Attached also is a photo of a Roy Rogers badge in my collection.

I do not know if this helps with the Marshall star, but here are a few items I found on Worthpoint. Some are listed as Roy Rogers, but the photograph in your example seems to be different, and holding a revolver ?

One of these looks like your badge. Listing says Hopalong Cassidy, if so then it would be William Boyd. But is it Boyd ? The others seem to be Roy Rogers.

I think Bill introduced the blog to Ranetta with another sleek toy, an atomic submarine straight outta Thunderbirds!

SEEPY HOLLOW: THE BLOW MOULDED RACER USED BY DEREK MEDDINGS

I saw this picture on an auction recently. I immediately recognised it as a plastic racing car I'd posted before on MC.

Its such an interesting toy and what it got used for, the World Navy Sub 27, so I'm re-posting the 2019 post here. Anyone got one of these cars? Does it appear in any other episodes? Anyone know the toy's name and maker?

There is hardly anything about the World Navy Sub 27 online. Old contact Marc Frattasio described the sub's origins way back in 1995 and re-described it on the old TVCentury21 site years later, something I just hadn't read until now!

This is Captain Jordan's submarine, the WN27, as seen in 'The Man from the Navy'. The actual model was about 12 inches long and had a hull made from a toy or kit midget racing car. The car body is turned back-to-front and the front of the conning tower fits into what would be the back of the driver's cockpit. This model was dressed up with Airfix SRN1 hovercraft kit turbine parts and repainted bright orange for use in the Thunderbirds episode 'The Man from MI5'.

I wonder where the original Century 21 prop ended up?

Yorkie's ace observations in the comments about this mystery toy racing car and its possible use as a Century 21 prop were so good that I had to post them.

Yorkie said that in the Stingray episode 'Man from the Navy', the World Navy Sub 27 is a converted racing car toy or model. A conning tower has been added and the rear of the car becomes the front of the sub. It could be the toy pictured.

Since posting the 'mystery' racing car post I've realised where I first saved the picture from. It belonged to modeller Mike Delamar and I asked to use it nearly 10 years ago on an online thread. You can see the thread on the Eagletransporter Forum [you may have to register after a while]. Mike's a master scratch builder and the old thread detailed his search for original parts to create the World Navy Sub 27 from the toy racing car. Sadly the thread peters out and the finished model is not shown.

I've realised that I may have very nearly bought one of these toy racers way back in the Noughties. We visited an old toy shop at the top of Shipley Glen Railway and after spending £15 on vintage items like this stack of Bravestarr mugs I'd run out of cash. The racing car was in cellophane on a shelf above the counter. I didn't have any more cash! Darn it!

Anyone ever seen one for sale on Ebay? The racing car.

DARTH VENDOR

We're used to seeing the LP aliens on Moonbase. Collectors of Apollo Moon Exploring may even have them in the house.

Here's a humorous alien I've not seen before, on the left: a Darth Vader!

These are small soft rubber vending versions of the normally hard plastic LP figures, which I saw on auction so saved the image.

HOUSES FOR DOLLS AND TEDS

 Doll's houses have been a feature this Spring.

My Missus is putting together a Teddy room in a suitcase for our Granddaughter.

Those tiny teddies are really hard to find.

The blue bed is made from lolly sticks.

Visiting Cartwright Hall gallery last month I snapped this old doll's house.

Here it is from the rear, together with spooky effects!

and I loved this, a large Moorish toy house made of wood all stacked up on a wheeled cart!

Gorgeous.
