FESTIVE SYNONYMS

Just in case you can't get up from the sofa after dinner and the Christmas film isn't Jason and the Argonauts here's a little something to unstuff your cracker and roast your cocktails.

I want one thing from you: synonyms for Christmas, for example, - the festive season.

THE TAT OF CHRISTMAS PAST

 

I saw this on the Bay and thought, yes, that's just the kind of Yule decoration my parents had in the house at Christmas.

Lots of plastic and flock, snowmen and little bombardiers with tall hats, typical of the Sixties and the Seventies.

I love the way Santa is looking down at that naughty little snowman doing its thing.

Like all good Sixties tat it was battery operated too!

Heaven!

I love the idea that there was a time when the wrist wringer would have been an ideal gift and made some bell-less cherub as happy as Larry.

You could use it, according to the card, for skateboarding, roller skating, biking and hiking!

Good old Henry Gordy, he thought of everything!

I like to collect plastic.

Old plastic.

Ever since I saw a plastic Santa by JR21 I've looked out for .... plastic Santas!

On a recent Charity shopping trip to a very festively illuminated Wetherby town I was lucky to find this rather jocular old plastic Santa and sleigh with Made in Hong Kong marked on it.

For two days it joined my old plastic Santa's head in a bauble, which I'm rather fond of.

But hark! A further and more recent Charity shop find, on my birthday no less, in the fair town of Headingley [Leeds] was this quaint plastic Santa on his sled. With its string attached I'm sure it's to be hung on the tree. Again made in Hong Kong it joins my other toy Santas ready for the Big Day.
