Hi,

Finally completed my XL5 scratchbuild. 20 inches long, made from plasticard, milliput and perspex tube. Junior is held in place with magnets. I will take more pictures soon.

I've been browsing sold lots on Christies and some interesting old stuff comes up from years back.

Like this book of original Fireball XL5 art presented to Lew Grade in 1962.

Fellow blogger KO has reported on his site the sale results for the Investigator prop vehicles sold today by Sworders.

In Rambo First Blood Colonel Trautman is described as a full bird Colonel.

Anyone know what that means? Full bird?

TERRANOVA47'S VINTAGE HISTORY BOOKS

Re. reference books, much of my homework in the 1950's began by referring to one or other of these two books published by Sampson Lowe. 

The same publishers as my early childhood favourites, Toby Twirl and Nicholas Thomas (also Noddy but I will not mention that little snot).

There was a series of about four of these books, mine were the Encyclopaedia and the History Book. Artists included Frank Bellamy. They measures 8.5 x 11 inches and were about 50% colour.

It's interesting that when Look & Learn began it used the same artists and layout style telling information in strip comic art style.

Vibranium is the super rare metal Cap America's shield is made of.

I assume its a made-up metal from the comic world periodic table.

Even so it sounds impressive. Like those scientific claims made by cosmetics companies on the TV.

Science like skin boosting earwax bubble technology or eye peeling jelly factor or lipid eating onion compound.

All very believable.

Which new elements, metals, technologies and compounds would you come up with readers?
