Continuing our weddo anniversary weekend Me and the Missus visited another morning car boot in the sunshine. This time one of our old haunts, Owl Lane in Dewsbury. Owl Lane once was the setting for our best ever car boot toy find, which I've blogged about previously.
That was in the days when I was a full-time Ebayer and toy fair stander in the mid-Noughties. Not so now. We haven't been to Owl Lane for a few years I don't think.
In that time much has happened to turn what was a huge vibrant car boot into a shadow of its former self. The main culprit is a new housing estate and an all-weather football pitch. Good for householders but not so car booters.
Once we saw this much smaller affair our expectations were similarly shrunk.
Nevertheless, we managed to unearth a couple of old plastic planes for £1.50; a playmobil airliner from 2005 [missing landing gear and rear tail] and a Mattel/ Matchbox sea plane from 2001, which I know nothing about. Do you?
Along with some picture books, this meagre haul will be donated to our Grandson's growing fleet of toy vehicles here at Moonbase.
From Owl Lane we went for a big breakfast with coffee at McDonalds. A fast-food sin I know but it tastes wonderful!
This afternoon, with temperatures near 30C, we've retreated with Blue the dog to the shade and rested with tall glasses of iced peach cordial and planned a summer holiday.
Life returns to normal tomorrow: work, chores, sleep, eat, work, chores.
I shall also catch up with emails, comments and phone calls.
Have you been to a car boot, yard sale, flea market, charity shop or table top sale this weekend readers?
