Did You Melt Your Airfix Soldiers?

Its a strange one this but I distinctly remember melting Airfix soldiers when I was a kid. Do you?

Why I did this I can now only speculate. Perhaps it was to remodel the bodies of some troops into new shapes. Maybe it was to change them so they fitted into vehicles. Maybe it was just to see what it was like burning them.

I suspect it was the latter as I can vividly recall being fascinated by the globs of flaming plastic dropping off the figures and hitting the tin foil sheet still burning. There was also a distinct sound like a jjjjjum as each blob fell.

Naturally there was also a smell, the cloying stink of lit plastic, which nowadays I really can't stand, especially when I'm outdoors.

HANDMADE SUPERCAR MODEL MOVIE

This short film by 2arttoyguys from 2012 caught my eye during one of the cold dark afternoons this New Year.

Its from the low-tech school of scratch building, which is the school of modelling I went to! ha ha.

Its only had a few hundred hits so it needs a plug. I like it! Do you?

 

SpaceX Toy Scrapyard

I noticed this job lot on Fleabay last November and kept a picture for the blog.

If you like SpaceX, SWORD and similar you couldn't help noticing.

Its a smorgasborg of neat loose plastic . There's a couple of orange SpaceX Nuclear Pulses. a whole squadron of Cruiser 1's, a LEM and Capsule, a MOLAB and the main body of an ATS.

There's a Blue Box yellow Space Glider,a an interesting green Space car and a blue flying saucer too, the the centre. 

Anyone know anything about this saucer?

Mystery Model Imai Zero X

Here's some Japanese footage I found on You Tube of one of the smaller Zero X kits by Imai.

It's battery operated and appears to be controlled with a dial on the rear engines.

Does anyone know the exact model that this at all?

Is it part of this collection I had on loan a few years back?

Voyage Into Space: Boba Fett and the Tim Mee Alien

I saw this old Super 8 film cover for Voyage into Space [a mystery film to me!] and thought, hmmm....

those guys remind of two others I know!

Yep, the alien reptile man sort of looks like Tim Mee Toys turtle alien pictured here courtesy of Ebay

and the rocket robot shouts Boba Fett to me!

Here's the Fett with his rocket pack blasting off in the now renowned Star Wars Holiday Special cartoon segment, his first appearance.

If anyone has these two or similar toys then maybe you could have a bash at recreating the Super 8 Voyage into Space box scene and email it me!

Thunderbird 4 in its Model Submarine Pen
