I couldn't help noticing the design similarity between the small white and red jet missiles from the JR21 Submarine Aircraft Carrier above and the tinplate Space Scout X-110 by Marusan below.

heat up your horlicks with some budgie

Currently listening to my favourite band of the 1970's, the welsh rock trio Budgie, the band I headbanged to for years as a hairy guitar-mad teenager.

If you knew me then you would have heard Budgie!

Here's Zoom Club from their brilliant 1974 album In for the Kill.

Like many of the great hard rock tracks of the decade there's quiet thoughtful bits that build up to a bone-cracking power!

Put it on whilst you make the cocoa!

If you fancy some more, Budgie that is, not cocoa, try the more balladic, melancholic but equally guitar-drenched Young is a World from the earlier Squawk album released in 1972.

is it pre-owned or second hand?

I'm starting to see the expression Pre-Owned everywhere.

I first came across it years ago at Blockbusters describing second hand videos for sale.

Now I see it all over Ebay.

In the past the word Used was sufficient, which again simply meant second hand.

I suppose actually saying second hand is too close to the truth and as such its just too cruddy a phrase.

So in the modern rush for euphemisms I suspect the pecking order for these phrases is:

1. Pre-owned

2. Used

3. Second Hand

I had to laugh when I saw this. As a fan of the Seventies British TV ghost story The Stone Tape this image captured the whole idea in one!

humidity crisis at moonbase central

Sunday morning at Moonbase.

I'm full of cold and my tinnitus is ringing like a siren. We have also invested in two wall fans fitted by Super Mario and two dehumidifiers from Aldi.

Its hard to believe but the air at Moonbase is 75% water vapour. Its like the Skywalker Moisture Farm!

We do have a mould problem in two rooms and we're hoping Operation Ventilate will sort it out.

We are aiming for 50% humidity, which will be far better for base personnel, books, LP's, toys and the structure in general!

In the meantime the house sounds like Hangar 1 at Edwards Air Base, with fans whirring everywhere!

I'm hoping the set-up will also trap and dispel nasty allergens like cold germs, viruses, pollen and dust mites, which is something I suffer with generally being a very snotty sort of Moonbaser.

The Moonbase mutt Blue is scratching like mad as well so it looks like he's got something too. We will have to take Scout 1 to Pets'R'Us for some medicated mutt shampoo.

We're under siege at Moonbase.
