UNDER THE RADAR: HONG KONG PLASTIC

 I spotted this old plastic space capsule on the Bay. It's marked HP and is classic Sixties Hong Kong.

Its the radar that caught my eye.

I used to think this was the same as Project SWORD's Scout 1 [below right] but I actually think its the the same as a toy called the Firefly XYZ Mark 111 [below left]

Anyone got one of these capsules or Fireflies?

WHEN DID YOU GO TO BED AS A KID?

I was thinking about when I went to bed as a kid the other day. 

I recall watching creepy films on TV late at night but that was later on when I was 11 or 12 maybe on Friday and Saturday.

Weekends were different to school days. I could stay up later, except Sunday night. 

Sunday was that strange day between Saturday and Monday and with School starting again it meant an early night once more much to my utter disgust!

School nights I think I went to bed around 8pm - and Sundays  - when I was about 10 but to be honest I'm foggy about this! 8pm sounds so damn early!

When did you go to bed as a youngster readers? Did you go straight to sleep?

Saw these old Sather's Candy Filled Space Fleet packets on Etsy.

They look like interesting connectable plastic modules.

Anyone know what they are? Anyone got them readers?

Saw this online and thought, oh yes, bottom left there's the Astronomical Telemetry Station [is that right?] or ATS of the SpaceX toy range!

FISHER PRICE STAR WARS ADVENTURE PEOPLE: THERE IS ANOTHER

I used to enjoy collecting Fisher Price Adventure people. I've blogged about the range before. At one time they were common fair at UK Car Boot Sales.

However, in all my booting I never came across anything like these Adventure People - Star Wars crossovers! Given the global success of Star Wars it was inevitable that virtually every other minor space line would be unscrupulously  morphed with it like this at some point!

Called HOMBRE ESPACIAL they hail from Argentina and were made by PPL. Sought after in their own region, you can read about the whole range here in this fascinating online article by John J. Alvarez.
