JAPANESE THUNDERBIRDS MERCHANDISE BOOK: PROJECT SWORD SECTION TRANSLATED!

Woodsy, I have managed to get a decent translation of page 81 from the Japanese Thunderbirds Merchandise museum book, here is how it translates and what it means.

"Sawa Boeki co. imported toys   Century 21 Toys

Project Sword     R/C  Zero-X toy

In the early 1968 Century 21 Publications issued an annual featuring the Mars project and introduced 17 space probes in it, associated with US Apollo project.

Zero-X is one of them and it also appeared in the film Thunderbirds Are Go.

The craft body by Century 21 Toys consists of five detachable parts and moves backwards and forwards with a transceiver-shape controller. The two main wings have friction drive and MEV works either on its own or by r/c.  

Sawa Boeki trading company introduced the Mars space probe toys in Japan in May 1968 , and some Japanese weekly magazines for boys (Shonen King, Shonen Sunday) had tie-up campaign and offered the toys to readers as prize.

HIDDEN AMONGST THE BUBBLES: THE AMPHIBIOUS MILITARY JEEP

Saw this recently, a camouflaged version of the Hong Kong amphibious car I used to float in my bath! Mine was friction drive and often carried Billy Blastoff to the deep end. This one's battery operated so not exactly bathing-friendly! Seen online, I can't see a makers' mark. Anyone know?

LIGHTING TEST FOR THE MOEBIUS SEAVIEW BUILD

Some photos showing lighting tests for my Moebius Seaview build.

The section containing the three searchlights and the control room only just fits in. It's not glued in yet, I'll probably do that after I've rubbed down and primed the main body.

The tiny figures of Admiral  Nelson and Captain Crane help give the model some scale.

I'm particularly pleased with the flat light pad which is glued onto the top of the control room. It does give a nice gentle bluish effect as if the room is lit by strip lights.

With this type of lighting it was well worth going to the trouble of detailing the interior.

LONDON 2015: THE ANGEL AT ROTHERHITHE

On our recent trip to London we took an evening walk along the Thames from Tower Bridge to Rotherhithe and the Angel Pub. Recommended by reader Andy B, if offered fine nocturnal views of the illuminated Tower Bridge. And we enjoyed a very nice pint too!

MORE SEAVIEW UPDATES

As some of these photos are being quite well received on social  media  I thought I'd share a couple more with you all.  As can be seen these generally show the initial stages of wiring. The searchlight at the front and underside are larger than the normal size  LED''s  (The control room flat light pad  to give the impression of strip lights isn't attached yet).
The tail fin lights have to be fibre optics which are not as bright as I'd like but as the cadalac fins are too thin for twin wires I have very little choice.
