WE WANT A ZERO-X! JOIN ME AND WRITE TO VIVID TOYS

I've just emailed Vivid Toys, the manufacturers of the new Thunderbirds Are Go! toys being released this year. I have asked them to release a Zero-X toy! A long shot I know but if enough of us email then who knows! The idea just needs some "lifting bodies" to get it off the ground! ha ha. 

So get scribbling guys and email Vivid here. For ideas, here's the one I sent [some personal stuff - email, phone - removed for posting here]:

MOONBASE VIDEO: PROJECT SWORD NUCLEAR FERRY TEST: PART 2

Here it is folks! Part 2 of my home movie testing the spring on the SWORD Nuke Ferry toy. The toy is on loan so I have prepared for as soft a landing as possible - my bed and lots of pillows! Just in case, I had my RAC membership card ready for a Nuclear Ferry Home Start! 

I would be pleased to hear from anyone else who has also managed to fire the nose cone on this toy or got any other part of it working!

I was interested to see the pack of carded toys including the grey plastic Angel Interceptor. It comes from this carded display which some of your followers Stateside might appreciate as I believe the craft shown on the header card are from the Ultraman series.

PROJECT SWORD VERSES STAR WARS

A few years back Bill and I published a cool set of Project SWORD cards called the Codex. A sort of Top Trumps really. Remembering it I got to thinking, could a SWORD Top Trumps pack be played against a STAR WARS Top Trumps set?

For instance, is the Zero X more powerful than the Millennium Falcon? Is Scout 3 more agile than a Speeder Bike? Is Probe Force 3 better equipped than the X-Wing?

COLLECTING TOYS: OLD MAIL ORDER V THE INTERNET?

The internet has changed all our lives and certainly the way we collect. Before the late 1990's I used to send off stamped addressed envelopes for peoples' lists of collectables for sale or trade. They would advertise in the small ads at the back of Model Mart and in the local Yorkshire newspaper. 

Those snail-mail days are long gone but I do find myself missing them. There was something very tangible about receiving paper letters and lists through the post and following things up on the phone. This is how I got my entire project SWORD collection during the 1990's.

What do you think readers? Was it the Dark Ages back then or actually a great time for collecting?

MOONBASE VIDEO: NUCLEAR FERRY EXPERIMENT PART 1

This is my latest home movie: trying out the spring-loaded mechanism of the illustrious Nuclear Ferry toy. The toy is on loan to me from a kind collector so I have been understandably careful with the experiment.  

I have put off posting the results, filmed in January, because, after careful planning, part of it went completely wrong - you couldn't see anything! Rather than put it off any longer I've simply chopped out the dross and will film a second part soon! Be patient.
