Even though I've been concentrating on my 3-rail O-gauge trains for some time now, that doesn't mean I'm not in the game when it comes to other collecting activity. I've just slowed down a bit is all!
Anywho, when this job lot came up for only $39.99, I jumped on it! As you well know, anything SpaceX/Golden Astronaut related is going for stupid sums nowadays and in today's market, this lot was a bargain.
The Pleasure Cruiser is an empty hull (no doubt cannibalized to repair other cruisers) but the others are fairly intact.
The Lift Loader is good to go as is, the Mobile Moon HQ could use its front disc (or not - who's to say it's not a variant?), and the Terrain Tiger needs a hook.
There is one figure and several odd spare parts.
One of my goals this year is to cobble together a lunar/alien landscape for photographing my small-to-medium (aka 25mm-60mm sized figure range) toys. We shall see!

Anyone else collect Golden Astronaut/ SpaceX toys?
Thats not a bad lot for the price Ed! Spare parts are Hawk engine cover and a wing and Space Patrol nacelles. Not sure what the white plate is though. Bill
ReplyDeleteThanx Bill! In today's market it was a steal. I believe I have four Moonbase HQ's out in The Cave - enough to make a decent Lunar installation. That odd piece of white plastic could be used for a number of things, like a cover to an equipment bay or...?
DeleteA bit of connective tubing would allow a mega Moonbase with a central spine and the units coming off it!
DeleteGreat haul! I had so many of the Golden Astronaut toys in my hands circa 1970, but stupidly let them all slip away. Regrets! SFZ
ReplyDeleteBack when these cam out I was firmly into HO scale model railroading so all these toys flew under my radar. I didn't really get into them until coming upon this blog back around 2008 when my space toy collecting started to really take off.
DeleteFunny you mention that, Ed. I, too, was torn between two worlds - HO Railroading and SF toys/models - at the time, and apparently, Golden Astronauts was a low priority back then. Sadder but wiser now! SFZ
DeleteI wonder if the white item is a baseplate for a toy like a Merehall or Jimson space tank Ed?
ReplyDeleteI'm unfamiliar with those brands Woodsy. In any case, it's still a keeper - might come in handy for something! :-)
DeleteHmmm, the Moonbase I never had as a kid! Great find!
ReplyDeleteLooking at it again, that white thing could be the deck of a boat. There appear to be holes for a mast in the middle maybe and a fin at the back possibly?
