I like this auctioned carded Grendizer set for a couple of reasons.
First of all it looks fantastic and I would have loved it as a kid!
Second I like the UFO branding, which I assume is coincudental and nothing to do with the Gerry Anderson series.
Even so, the pistol even does have a look of the Echo UFO gun we've covered a few times on MC. The toy Echo gun was connected to Gerry's TV show!
Here's the Echo UFO gun so you can compare them. What do you think?
The show's full title is UFO Robot Grendizer and it came out in 1975, so well after Gerry's effort!
ReplyDeleteI love that vacuum formed mask. Masks used to be very popular in Japan, particularly at stalls in public parks, but I haven't seen any on my more recent trips (at least robot themed ones!)
As such, I have about 20 in my robot collection, but they have always been hard to find and often expensive. Wanna see them?
My old late Mum and me talked about going to Japan together so I could see real Karateka and Judoka in action circa 1974. It was a fun dream we had together.
DeleteWho doesn't want to see a set of vac formed robot masks Looey.
ReplyDeleteBring them on, I say.
Hear hear! Unmask the masks!
DeleteP.S. What in the wide wide world of sports is a Grendizer ?!
ReplyDeleteIf it had been a sport then it would have been on Transworld of Sport. Remember that show Mish?
DeleteThe gun like that might get you shot around here.
ReplyDeleteToy guns are an issue everywhere now Jan aren't they.
