Repairing an old picture the other day I stacked my frame pins on an orange magnet.
Well, the memories came flooding back of just such a gadget I got one Crimbo in the early Seventies. I seem to recall a load of metal shards on a heavy magnetic base, which allowed the shards to be pillared in any way you wanted. Upwards, sideways. Great fun!
Do you remember it?
One of many 'desk toys' like Newtons Cradle, the rocking chrome dolphin and the gyroscopic wheel that rolled back and to along a rail. Great fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure they were sold as desk toys or executive toys back in the 60's and 70's. To be honest I've no idea where my parents bought stuff like this. Eventually I started to buy my own goofy items direct from Ellisdons in Liverpool, the mail order joke and gag firm.
ReplyDeleteI had loads of them, 'executive toys' was a loose term, as they always appeared in gift shops and discount outlets in the 70's

I never had that horse rider. In our house was a pin board that you pressed your hand onto to create a mirror image on the other side in pins!
