I'm hankering after watching the old and creepy 1970's Dr. Who series, The Sea Devils, which I enjoyed so much as a kid.
As far as I recall it came around the same year as another fave of mine, the brilliantly atmospheric The Curse of Peladon, about the boar monster. So I guess its the Pertwee years. Is that right?
As luck would have it I bought The Curse of Peladon on VHS about 20 years ago, so I can watch that whenever I want.
Alas I didn't buy The Sea Devils and I'm now wondering how best to catch it again. I could buy a DVD on Ebay but I'm unsure if all the episodes would be on a single DVD. If I did buy at least I would own it.
The other way would be to join Britbox UK, where it seems to be available. Britbox is free for a week and then £5.99 a month, but I'm unsure if I need another platform that long. We already have three!
How would you catch the old Sea Devils series? Free trial for a week or buy a DVD set?
Go to my model room and select it from my 'classic' Who DVD collection, which is just about as complete as it can be.
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way!
DeleteI would get the DVD version. Yes, Jon Pertwee years. There were three stories with the Sea Devils in total, and there is a boxed set with all three stories on it, called Beneath the Surface. As far as I know, all episodes of The Sea Devils are on one disc.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul, great info.
DeleteFree trial, and if you like it as you remember it then buy it
