I caught the Outer Limits episode on Friday night, The Human Factor, which I've never seen before.
What struck me was the sub-plot, the discovery of an alien in the icy wastes, is essentially the plot of the Thing.
The characters in the Human Factor even describe the alien as the thing most of the time!
Is there a connection?
Oddly enough, on another channel The Thing was showing on TV just after the Outer Limits! Its a shape shifting, body melting coincidence!
I hear the theme tune to Tales from the Dark side!
ReplyDeleteWhen do you hear that Khusru?
DeleteIt's not synchronicity or coincidence, ergo it's 'spooky' Cue music
DeleteI've read that the Thing originally was based on a novella Who Goes There.
ReplyDeleteJohn Campbells 'Who Goes There?' is a great story - the modern remake of the Thing adheres much more closely to the story, in that the creature includes many insectoid features as well as three red glowing eyes. Hannes Bok dd a lovely book cover for it too.
DeleteI'd like to read it.
