I do like a good vintage motorbike and sidecar toy.
Do you?
Fortunately there are often a few on the auctions around the net.
here are two pictures that caught my eye.
The Yonezawa Highway Patrol Police Special.
But my favourite is this Batman and Robin Batcycle. Kapow! Have you got one f these beauties! I'm not sure who the maker is. There's a large E bottom left.
The box cover illustration is just fabulous.
The Police motorcycle is obviously meant to be American, as is the Batcyle. American vehicles have left-hand drive, and their motorcycle combinations have the bike on the left, with the sidecar on the right. But both toys have the motorcycle on the right, and the sidecar on the left. That just looks odd.
ReplyDeleteInsightful Paul. Thanks.
DeleteI'd like to know what motorbike and sidecar toy was used as the vehicle for the chimney sweep in Camberwick Green as I can't identify it. On the plus side, I have finally sourced the toy to make Mr Dagenham's helicopter!
ReplyDeleteJust posted some Camberwick footage Kev but its nota great clip of the motorbike. I may have to post a better one. Which Helicopter toy is it or is it under wraps?
DeleteOh brill, thanks. The helicopter is just called 'friction helicopter with active pilot'. Mine still has its box but only says 'foreign made' on it, no manufacturer. It will require an entirely new, scratchbuilt cockpit.
