I used to love finding Ghostbusters toys at car boot sales in the Nineties. There were tons of them and many were still boxed. Ecto-1 had to be the top prize along with the huge boxed fire-house. The figures were fab too.
Here's a TV reminder of the figures and the Ecto-1 toy available in the mid-1980's.
Here's the modern counterparts by Playmobil on TV too
Did you have any Ghostbusters toys?
Text vanishes the moment I click on this to be replaced with a blank white rectangle. The video remains.
ReplyDeleteWho ya gonna call?
DeleteI'll try to fix it.
I've stood outside of the fire house from Ghostbusters in New York and I'm told you can find it the current Spider-Man console game along with many other real and fictional locations from film and tv
DeleteWhere is the fire-house MJ? I've stood outside the big building in NYC where the Gatekeeper and the Keymaster get it together. Oddly enough after seeing the film in Llandudno in December 1984 our daughter was born the day after! We nearly called her Slimer! haha
Delete12 months ago, my better half found a Playmobil Ecto-1a at a car boot and gave it to my 36 year old son, who is also a toy collector. I put up a good show and pretended to be very pleased for him. Secretly, I was gutted, Woodsy. My inner child wanted it. It's a really good quality piece and looks superb... in his collection.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Tone. Moonbase Junior has one too and I covet it every time I'm round. Its SO like the Kenner one, which I thought was a beautiful toy. I reckon I found my first one at a boot sale circa 1990. Those were the days. It was covered up by a pile of loose-He-Man figures!
DeleteConsider this Tony.
ReplyDeleteYour son is the regeneration of YOU.
In essence, the toy HAS come home to you.
Rejoice !
Philosophy AND toys! Its all on Moonbase C!
DeleteHmmm... not sure I'm convinced Mish... but thanks for the trying to reassure me. It's appreciated :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Tone. I want Junior's Ecto-1!
DeleteMore philosophy Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteAsk yourself this question guys.
In order to satiate your desire for these toys, would you take them from your offspring ?
I know the toys are what, and who, you 'feel' you both are ... but they are NOT.
Your future generations ARE.
Let them go ...
