I see a lot of references to State Parks in the US. Just how big are they?

Connecticut has about 7% of it's area as State owned land. It doesn't sound much but so much is wooded both private and state owned that it seems more.

DeleteIt is New England. Most land was so rocky or dense forest that the Brits wanted to move on to the interior where land was flat and fertile. That was one of the reasons for support of the Revolutionary War, settlers wanted better land and The Crown didn't want to expand it's military protection.
