I saw this on an old auction.
Its a huge toy plastic News copter.
The front opens to reveal cameras.
The box is a busy one with diagrams and artwork of a pilot.
This toy reminds me of my own Tarheel Super Copter, which I got over ten years ago.
Have you got a big toy copter?
If it is a News helicopter, why does it have POLICE on the side ?
ReplyDeleteThe engine and tail boom suggest the Bell UH-1 Iroquois, or Huey as it was nick-named. The fuselage slightly resembles the UH-1, but with the opening nose, and canopy atop the fuselage, it is more like the Sikorsky S-55 or UH-19 family - the opening nose contained the piston engine. The skid undercarriage again says UH-1, but the three-bladed rotor says S-55. Really, a bit of a mix.
Yes, well spotted Paul. I suspect that this basic toy design did the rounds. Sometimes a Police chopper, other times military like mine and now a News ship. Looking at the box art I see they are filming over the Apollo splashdown site in the sea. Now that was news!
DeleteAs it happens I've had two in 'the queue' since March, but lord knows when I'll get round to publishing them!
