The outdoor Sunday car boot sale we go to was massive this morning. Clad with our face-masks we spent a happy two hours in glorious sunshine browsing the countless stalls.
Both me and Missus procured a few items for Moonbase Junior and also for possible investment. More on those later but for now here are a few things we saw which for better or for worse we walked by [pictures of similar items borrowed from the internet]:
1978 die-cast Hot Wheels Auburn in red and silver [broken windscreen]
1990 die-cast Corgi Batmobile - some paint loss - where have I seen that exhaust before?
1993 Captain Scarlet Adventure Game - a few of these have passed through Moonbase. The miniature SPV's are just great.
Dinky Bristol twin rotor helicopter - a few of these have come through Moonbase over the years too. It looks so futuristic in an old way somehow. 1950's or 60's? Not sure how to date these.
1988 Little Tikes Toddle Tots yellow school bus and chunky riders. A nursery was clearing out so there was tons of superb condition Little Tikes toys and vehicles from this era. I always get the figures confused with Weebles. Are they related?
Unlicenced Worzel Gummidge plastic figure. Aunt Sally was laid next to him in the tat box.
There were quite a few toy dealers there as it seems there'll not be any more indoor toy fairs this year in England. It's odd but nice to see top class boxed Dinky and Corgi die-cast at a car boot sale - with top class prices too.
Is there anything here you would have got?
Have you started going to sales and flea markets again?
Ive got the Batmobile, the copters nice, but theyre usually expensive
ReplyDeleteIs the Batmobile part of a special release as its so unusual?
DeleteIts part of a series of different versions of the bm, I think thats a future Batman version. Mines on the blog somewhere
DeleteI think collecting batmobiles could be a lifetime's activity, there are so many!
DeleteThe Dinky helicopter is the 715 Bristol 173 (first flight 1952) from 1956. Depending on the price, I would have snapped that one up. I have seen one at a fair here, minus its rotors, sitting in a tray on the same table for several years at a silly price. I did recently get the smaller Dinky 716 Westland-Sikorsky S-51, which is tiny. Also, the Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally figures, again depending on the price. I might be tempted by the Captain Scarlet game, depending on how much money I had left after buying the other items.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Paul. I wish I'd have got the Worzel and Sally figures now too!
DeleteThere are certainly a lot of model Batmobiles - Corgi have done many, in various scales, as have Hot Wheels, and a few other companies. The Batman Automobilia partwork from Eaglemoss included 85 regular issues and several specials. This covered TV, movie, cartoon, and comic Batmobiles, Batplanes, Batboats, etc, and a few villain cars. Released by Eaglemoss. The Hot Wheels line includes numerous colour variations. Yes, that lot will keep you busy for a few decades.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot Paul! Oddly enough, the first mail-order collectable I bought was a Corgi Juniors Batmobile sealed in a bubble box. I got it in the early 90's after I discovered Model Mart and a deal advertising in there called TV Toy Zone. I was thrilled with that little Batmobile as I'd had one as a nipper. I think I later sold it on my stall. Here it is with my early collection of stuff circa 1994. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RsCCizsWvNw/SWigjMmNrfI/AAAAAAAABW0/7SV3Xz9CLkQ/s1600-h/early+good+pics+of+my+stuff.jpg
DeleteI never had any Batman toys as a boy, although I did have an Annual. I do have a couple of the Juniors Batmobiles, and the Penguin car in the photo - Corgi also did a few villain cars. Most of my models are modern Hot Wheels. They have produced a number of five-packs, which only include one or two Bat-vehicles, but also a Gotham City Police car, and several villain cars - none of these secondary vehicles are available on their own, only in these sets. Some of these sets are movie tie-ins, others are more generic.
ReplyDeleteThey all sound interesting Paul. Have we seen them on Moonbase yet?
DeleteYes. If you look under Batmobile you will find some photos of my Hot Wheels Mainline Batmobiles, but I will send in some more, as there are many different Batmobiles in the Hot Wheels range.
