Having never heard of Message from Space, unlike many of MC's readers, I had a further dig around.
Here's another kit on Ebay in Winnipeg, the LIABE Star Cruiser, also by Entex. The yellow saucer is something else.
I can see the Comet Fire on the box lid top right but what's the ship bottom left?
and even more message from space in the form of Entex's Galaxy Runner, this time being unboxed over 10 minutes on You Tubery.
The yellow saucer is the Lindberg flying saucer kit. Originally made in 1954 it's been reissued multiple times. I remember getting a blue one in 1978 when old SF kits were being reissued during the Star Wars boom. Anyone remember the Lindberg Starprobe line from the same year? I believe Atlantis models reissued the flying saucer yet again just a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the Lindberg Flying Saucer have the honour of being the first sci-fi kit available Yorkie? Don't know the Starprobe, soz.
DeleteThis is all new to me and interesting to learn about. Checking the great Scalemates database, these seem to be reboxed / parallel issues of the Japanese originals (see Product timeline a bit further down)

Glad we could help Arto. Your link has added to my knowledge too! I love that site and the timeline is so well designed and simple. Looking at the Bandai originals its easier to see the influence of Star wars on these vehicles and presumably the movie Message from Space as well. Love that Bandai box art! Fascinating.
