In 1974 just after moving to NYC, POTA TV show was aired. Clearly low budget as it used all the sets and props from the movies it managed also to be the most boring show on TV.
I collected the set of bubble gum cards from the show, and here they are. Clearly nothing much happened in this short season.
Regards,
You can spot the back-lot that POTA used in most TV shows of the 70's and 80's infact it's so iconic I think The Aquabats requested it for The Aquabats supershow??!- Mark J Southcoast Base
ReplyDeleteAlso, do those card's still smell of the gum they came with? -Mark J Southcoast Base
DeleteAfter all this time the chemical trace of the gum is still present!

DeleteI like that show! The cards are neat too. An impressive collection, I've only got a few.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are pretty hard to come by now, at least in full sets. Ive got some nice X Files and Star Wars cards from the 90's by Topps and a set of Stingray sweet cigarette ones, but its missing two cards!
ReplyDeleteThe show was never shown in the STV area as far as I know. I certainly never saw it on TV, though it may have been broadcast years later. As for the cards, I hate the item they come with as the mere smell of it makes me retch. I've got the Batman cards, but it's the boxed 1989 reissue set that were never accompanied by that foul 'confectionery.
ReplyDeleteAww shame! I recall seeing the series way before I came across the film version.I watched it religiously every Sunday (?) But I was blown away when I saw the film version with Charlton Heston years later. Im with you on the plastic gum, virtually inedible.
DeleteI hate all forms of it, BB - sight or smell of it. And I resent having to tap-dance through its spat-out deposits whenever I'm walking on the pavement. And don't get me started on seeing the way people actually eat it. Disgusting stuff that should be banned.(Add an ' to the end of 'confectionery' in my previous response.)

ReplyDeleteMy mother used to tell me not to swallow gum, as it would wrap round my lungs! The pedant in me came roaring to the front even at an early age and pointing out that it was physiologically impossible for the gum to get anywhere near my lungs, I pointedly swallowed it in front of her!
