They were selling these toys off cheap at Toys R Us back in the early 1990's. The big boxed Tower was tight there in front of me but my arms were full!
Never had them myself nor wanted them. They sat on the shelves at Target where I had to eventually clearance them off, at least the ones that weren't fully written off by kids wanting the swords out of the packages. This is a less remembered line and I think was hurt not just by the similar Visionaries line but also the more limited articulation of the figures. Plus Tonka tended to have poor success with action figures when compared to their bread and butter truck line.
I keep forgetting you ran a toy department Lance - or was it a whole shop? - I fist saw Supernaturals at Toys R Us on theor clearance shelves. It was at the start of my collecting bug at the start of the 90's. I must say the castle looked ace in the big box it came in. I wish I'd got one but I binged out on Marvel Super Heroes boxed toys. When I went back the Supernaturals had gone. Eventually I began to find loose figures at flea markets and kinda digged the holographic chestplates and standards that carried. I see what you mean about limited articulation and how Tonka was better known for tough trucks.
