I never thought my old toy stall toys would be played with again.
But thats whats happening.
Our Grandson, Moonbase Junior, is enjoying vintage stuff from the attic I never sold on!
In fact he's my best customer nowadays!
His latest fave oldie is this loose vintage Fisher Price set-up called Market Street or Main Street from 1986.
He loves pushing his die-cast cars up and down and mixing in some old Playmobil figures.
There was a time when I wouldn't have let anyone near my vintage toy stall stash but Moonbase Junior is welcome to what's left.
I suppose they're hand-me-downs now.
Funny how things change.
Have you passed on any toys to a new generation?
My brother is fifteen years younger than me... So he got quite a bit of my surviving stuff. Although NOT the Gerry Anderson materials!
ReplyDeleteWhen we were clearing our late parents home out for sale he very generously returned the lot to me!
Bless him, he'd kept it in good condition too.
Superb Bill. What did you get back?
DeleteAbout three years ago I gave my son Dan my comic collection, except for a box of Commando Comics which I've kept and added to, Woodsy. The collection included my own surviving comics from the 70s. I'm pleased they've gone to a good home. He's a passionate vintage toy and pop culture collector. I still pick up odd comics here and there, but mostly if I find something I like at the car boot :)
ReplyDeleteFab Tone. What a great hand me down! I've never read any Commando. Are they any good?
DeleteThe stories are fine as comics go, Woodsy, but to be honest I like them more for the fantastic cover art :)
DeleteDo you think Sven Hassall books are collected for the same reason Tone? Dramatic covers?
DeleteI'm not sure, Woodsy, although I wouldn't be surprised. I read all of the Sven Hassel novels as a teenager. They were so well researched, written and populated with memorable characters. Here's a link to a good fan site with background info about his books, biography, etc -
