In the lee of the Humber Bridge lies the small Lincolsnhire town of Barton on Humber.
I was drawn to Barton's harbour at low tide.
Some boats seemed ramshackle.
Some hard working
and this one huge and forlorn
It reminded me of the immense ferry in Fitzcarraldo
and this small rowing boat recalls half a chestnut husk!
Nice find off the beaten track, Woodsy. Bet you were tempted jump on board and explore. Wonder if the ghost of a long gone captain refuses to leave the wheel house? :)
ReplyDeleteha ha, that's a great idea for a story Tone. Its a beautiful place, the land around the bridge in North Lincolnshire. Unusual, flat and other worldly. Beyond the eerie boat yard we found a working clay-tile factory - some of the local walls were made of tiles - and a vast long rope binding hall, now full of small artisan works and a fab cafe where, after walking round the harbour and finding we were hungry as sailors, we devoured a sort of Homity Pie with mash and cheese sauce. Deelishious!
