I can still remember way back when, some lucky kid showing off his example at junior school and have it trundle across the school playground with lights flashing. I'd be extremely surprised if his still exists, as they aren't the most robust of toys.
These days, they are considered the highlight of many a Gerry Anderson vintage toy collection, with some dealers asking eye-watering prices for even slightly damaged ones, even if it hasn't got the all-important SWORD Supremo badge. Thankfully I got mine before prices got silly.
Of course, The SWORD badge is quite a bonus as it helps tie-in the C21 ZX with the SWORD range.
The box which has no real Thunderbird logos except for 'as seen in Thunderbirds Are Go' on one side, but it has a nice publicity photo of Zero X hidden under the flap and on the side.
I love this one. I bought mine very cheaply, it was in a model train auction (??!!) and not too surprisingly, there wasn't much interest in it! Haven't got the badge though but apart from that it is boxed and in reasonable fettle.
ReplyDeleteMe too Scoop, love it like you and Kev. Like you say a really flimsy toy yet somehow some have survived. I got my 'adult' one cheaply too. £60 I think but cant recall where! It had the silver nose cone missing but amazingly I found one in a bag of bits at a toy fair a few months later! Talk about luck. I was thinking about the Five Toys in One on the box - I suppose they are the MEV, the 2 wings and the toy itself. What's the fifth?
DeletePresumably, the Nose Cone, Woodsy
DeleteAll you lucky devils, who got their chance to aquire one at the right time! Mine deffo was not that cheap, but I am overjoyed each and every day that I have one. It is something about the looks of the toy, the complexity of it, the freckled boy as overjoyed as myself, and the side panel illustration that wakes me up every day!
