Time to collect more grisly cover copying in the printing press of fear.
This striking Masters of Horror's rising taloned hand is a deadringer for
the same one on the cover of Creepy issue 24, the likely source material.
Another trope of horror covers was the decaying face.
The paperback The Monster Men is graced by such a handsome chappie as is ...
its possible source, Psycho comic from 1974, a Skywald Horror-Mood publication.
Skywald's Psycho and Nightmare comics once nipped at the heels of the great Warren Publishing, owners of Creepy and Eerie.
Finally, this Kapra Epidemia book's rising hand cover rings a bell but with what? Any ideas?
I finally picked up a copy of 'Paperbacks From Hell'. You mentioned it a couple of weeks ago, Woodsy. It's brilliant companion for the collector and fan. The author, Grady Hendrix, provides a fast flowing narrative, and it's packed cover-to-cover with colour cover art, insight and info. Well worth forking out for, Woodsy :)
ReplyDeleteWow! you got one Tone! Excellent. I may have to wait till a second hand copy is on offer on Amazon. Thrift may be the order of the day later this summer. Trouble at the work mill.
