I love Screamers.
These were the soft Stretch Screamers as seen on TV by Character.
It is a quite hilarious ad especially the teenagers' eager face hugging and brain popping!

There were also electronic versions with hard torsos and squeezable ooze heads.
They were made Manley Quest of New York.
I used to find these electronic versions at car boot sales in the early 2000's like Frankenstein and Werewolf.
Great Halloween props!
When I found them without brains I simply replaced them with a squidgy ooze ball that were for sale in toy shops at the time. Voila!

I've often wondered if they are related to the more famous Stretch Armstrong line. Anyone know?
Did you have any Screamers?
Screamers are newer than the original Stretch Armstrong and I thing have different insides. The original Kenner line was filled with corn syrup that solidified over time ,making them very rare and very expensive.I think both brands would display well together.I would love to find a Stretch Monster or Stretch X Ray in any condition.I have the Creature from the Black Lagoon Stretch Screamer in 3 different sizes:the 12 inch electronic, the 8 inch Krakus, and the mini Creepy creature that came with a McDonalds Happy meal.
ReplyDeleteThe 8 inch Krakus! I love it! Sounds like a sausage! Get those screamers out for Halloween Brian! There was another toy range on the 90's called Screamers but they may have been called Howlers. Small monsters on bubble cards that howled. The monsters, not the cards! Wish I'd have bought some. They were being sold for peanuts in discount joints.
