For years I've been listening to songs and thinking ..... 'what did they just sing?'.
Here's a small smattering of them. See if you can decipher what they're saying without looking up the lyrics. I never have so I genuinely don't know.
If you don't know then amusing suggestions always welcomed as well as more songs for me to blog!
1. I Ain't No Mountain https://youtu.be/ybpaItOwNXo?t=47s
By heavy rock trio Budgie, what is the line this extract starts with? Its sound like ' while I'm paying my soray'.
2. Blinded by the Light https://youtu.be/lcWVL4B-4pI?t=1m
By songsmiths Manfred Man's Earth Band, what is the line this extract starts with? It sounds like 'wrap up like a doosh'.
3. Bohemian Rhapsody https://youtu.be/fJ9rUzIMcZQ?t=4m2s
By the almighty Queen, what is the line at the start of this extract? It sounds like ' Beelzebub has a devil for a sad formy'.
4. Paper Plane https://youtu.be/k-ciSfZPneY?t=2m5s
By 12 bar blues rockers Status Quo, what is the line this extract starts with? It sounds like' riding in a green grass doitcher car'.
#2-Revved up like a deuce, could possibly be a reference to a car engine.Note should be made that the original lyric(By New Jersey's own Bruce Springsteen)is Cut loose like a deuce...to which I have no clue.Sounds gross, though.
ReplyDeleteCheers Brian, thanks for that. I didn't know the Boss did it first. Yes, Deuce could be a car as in Little Deuce Coupe by the Beach Boys. Nice one.
DeleteWoodsy, I own the album"Greetings from Asbury Park"and have just watched several Bruce Springsteen videos, both past and present, and The Boss clearly sings"cut loose like a deuce".I am not incorrect.
DeleteI hear ya Brian. I'll go with that. Bruce is the Boss!
DeleteRacked up like a deuce...another roller in the night. Bruce Springsteen`s original recording, references rolling dice.
ReplyDeleteHi tsold3000, I reckon that you've nailed it. Thanks a bunch! I didn't know a deuce was a dice.
Delete3. Beelzebub has a devil set aside for me.
ReplyDeleteCheers Kevin, that makes sense. Thanks. Great song as well!
DeleteGuys, a "deuce" is a 1932 Ford Coupe:

This model was popular among car buffs for hot rod modification decades after the car was built, hence the "little deuce coupe" that inspired the Beach Boys:

In an episode of MTV Storytellers, Springsteen clarified he was thinking of the deuce coupe:

Thanks Richard, that's straight from the Boss's mouth! Sorted. Hope your'e well!
