I saw this mixed lot on Ebay earlier in the year. I didn't bid but I was interested in the bagged Apollo Moon Exploring MLP and Capsules and some LP astronauts, which were all new to me. Note the original price tags.
I've included the full description in case your'e interested in the other stuff. Anyone got any of this lot?
1. Archer-type, large figures, hard plastic, 5 figures, 4 different, 2 helmets, unbroken.
2. Space Trooper Action Team, 6 Ajax figures, olefin plastic, glow in the dark with original box. C1977 Toy Box, American made.
3. Captain Video hard plastic figures, spaceman and robot, about 4 inches high, may be missing gun tip.
4. Party favor set – Manteca Hobby. Contains a 10 inch, 4 stage rocket, and two astronauts, 3 inches high. They are hard plastic with hand painted faces, and a polyethylene back pack. Sealed in original bag.
5. Space Divers, 2 Space Men, carded with bubble, robot and Batman-type, and astronaut and Batman-type, with fold up parachutes, made in Hong Kong, packages are good.
6. Card with gum ball machine prizes, 5 aliens and 4 space capsules. The cardboard base is oil saturated and deteriorating. The figures are about 2.5 inches high soft vinyl, fragile, and are in v.good condition. Capsules are polystyrene. These are probably from the 60s and are highly detailed. The plastic used to make them was highly plasticized and I wouldn’t think that there are many of these left around.
7. 4 pink & green aliens, 2 inches high (pink may not go with green)
(2 sets) Party favor set, orange and white capsule, moon lander, flag, and 2 astronauts, about 1 inch high.
8. 3 piece set – soft plastic, two space figures (yellow & pink) and a green saucer. 2 inch figures are marked Hong Kong, in new condition. Also, an astronaut with removable pieces.
9. (2 sets) Party Favor set Mr.Favor, bag and header, contains 5 IDL astronauts, hand painted. Bases marked IDL, USA
10. Party favor – rocket and orange transom on wheeled base, about 6 inches high (one wheel support is broken).
I recognize the green aliens with the hole in their middles. That is one o Hing Fat's "Monsters"that have been re released in many colors over the years.A large set was available on Amazon about2 years ago.Oh,those Archers spark a memory from the seventies.I was at a church flea market with my family when I stumbled across 3 large bags full of those space men mixed with various other brands, most notably Marx. The price was so cheap that I wound up with all 3 bags! After many years of enjoyment, those toys got filtered down to younger cousins and friends. All I have left today is 3 Marx Tom Corbett figures and a yellow Lido robot.
ReplyDeleteNever seen those holed aliens before Brian. Is Hing fat the toy company? Are they from Hong Kong? Maybe Chinese? Finding bags of Archers was a stroke of luck. I suppose they were used as cake decorations back then so maybe craft shops got them in large bags?
DeleteThe Archers weren't in sealed bags, they were someone's toys stuffed in clear plastic storage bags. They must have really loved spacemen, because there was about 20 per bag, mixed with other brands like Marx.Hing Fat is the company who makes those aliens with the holes. They are part of a wild looking batch of colorful "monsters" that pop up every now and again. You can see them at a site called Fantasy Toy Soldiers.
DeleteIt's a great site that Brian, fantasy toy soldiers. The whole sword and sandals thing passed me by really apart from the odd film like Conan. I had no idea that there were so many fantasy figures and sets for sale in the eighties. I do now!
Deletei like the faux Zero X on the space Divers!
ReplyDeleteYep, I see them too now Bill. Well spotted! I like the little planes coming out of the front!
DeleteThat's a lovely lot! Remember the days when every-other lot on evilBay looked like that? Sigh!
ReplyDeleteHing Fat were a rack-toy 'brand' who florished about 15/20 years ago, they marked their header-cards...a bit like LP. although there two or three logos over time. But they were actually copies of copies if you know what I mean, Hing Fat's astronauts are a tad smaller than the 'others' that turn-up, same with the Marty Toys Space Fantasy sets etc...I think? They copied Dino's and Army men too...the smoother thick-based MPC 54mm NASA type copies are Hing Fat as well!

Great info Hugh! Thanks. It was a lovely lot wasn't it!
