Here's a lovely thing from reader Darth - a vintage Spanish PAYA Lunar Jeep and box cover art. Its much larger than the Triang SpaceX Moon Buggy.
What a beautifully elegant toy and box! Anyone else got one of these or the Triang version?

Hi, I used to live in England in the late 60's-early 70's before I moved to Australia. I had SPACE-X toys but this was one I saw in a shop and didn't try to buy until it was sold (sob!) The SPACE-X version had orange wheels and I think a white body with the prerequisite "Golden Astronaut" driver. (I think the PAYA version actually looks spiffier!)I'm trying to recreate my childhood and your site is the absolute best way to do it!
ReplyDeletePlease keep up the good work. By the way, I remember a SPACE-X moon base which was a cluster of plastic cylinders with transparent sections revealing the ant-farm astronauts inside. Does anyone else remember these?
@Woodsy: yes, both :)
ReplyDelete@Lewis: That's an iconic Spacex toy, and most of us Spacex collectors have one. Best picture I could quickly find on the blog is the one owned by Mike 'Scoop' B:
