In 1971 Imai released this Zero-X model kit called Space Science Series No.1 Thunderbird 0X. Serial number B-060-250. Its a beautiful looking model looking at the pictures and one that I don't have. Has anyone got it built up at all?
pictures; noppin
Hm- the artwork shows a very curious nose and the whole seems out of proportion?
ReplyDeleteI had one of the Zero X models from Imai but can't remember when I got it other than the early 80s in a batch of anime trades. What I recall of it was a dark blue, went together very nicely but the wings went on with a tab into a hole type deal and had zero tolerance built in. I remember one wing not coming off after a struggle to get it on and the other the tab breaking off rather quickly. I know I didn't save nay bits of it though. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI've got one of these; I bought it in 1994 from a model shop in Cardiff. The Aero-spike Nosecone is described as a "Missile" and is spring loaded. The MEV section does not have any sort of crew cabin, but instead is a latching type assembly which houses the spring mechanism.
ReplyDeleteThe vertical fins on the Lifting Body are somewhat out of proportion along with the Aero-spike. That said it's quite a nice model, both Lifting Bodies detach and if I can lay my hands on it, I'll take some photos of my completed kit and hopefully Paul will post them here. One thing I did do was remove all the spring loaded gubbins at the front, and glued that all together.
Difficult to determine the precise scale, but it had to be a bit greater than 1/800th, so not far off the Imai TB5 and TB3 kit.
