Unlike Joe’s Car, it would seem Sam’s Car was only produced between 1969 and 1971. It came in various colours, the most common being a chrome silver, a powder blue and a metallic red.
Mine is a boxed metallic red version which I’ve had from new.
It came with a nice little card display stand which held a self adhesive W.I.N. lapel badge.
The model also featured a keyless motor - a pull back and go affair.
All in all another very nice Dinky toy.
Can you help, did Sams car come in a burgundy colour?
ReplyDeleteHi Cliff, my esteemed co-blogger Scoop reckons that " I do think there was two different reds. I’m sure I’ve seen a darker version of the one I’ve got. The popular colours were metallic red, light blue and metallic silver. The Big Rat website seems to think there might be a white and a gold one as well. Considering Dinky and it’s paint jobs I’m sure it’s possible.

Hi Scoop, thanks for that, I do have a burgundy one that just looks too genuine to be a repaint so good to know it was a colour release, am I sitting on a goldmine? haha.
