I've always liked the look of the SpaceX Nuclear Freighter [NFII] so I was pleasantly surprised to see a modern toy displaying a similar shape. The toy is by Globaltoys of China and is compared next to my own NFII [courtesy of a recent swap with the mighty WOTAN].
PS. Photographing the NFII I noticed how Thunderbird 2 - like the front arc of windows and 'nose' are! Makes sense as both have their origins in the Century 21/ TV21 organisation.
WOTAN strikes! The Mighty One has ID'd the green toy! It's from the TV show the Tweenies pictured below.
" And i thought Teletubbies was bad!" says Wotan.
And there's even a ride!
Interesting toy that, Paul.
ReplyDeleteWhat size is it & how old do you think it is? And is that dial on the nose mere decoration or does it actually do something? Can't quite figure out why the red part is shaped the way it is - looks like a strange kind of soap dish.
cheers

That green soap dish is from that stupid kids tv show where the cast all run about in costumes with seriously inflated heads - the Tweenies of something.
ReplyDeleteDear god - have you only just noticed the TB2 similarity? I thought that was obvious ? :-D
Goddess, yes! I didn't want to be the one to say that first ... but SURELY you must have noticed the TB2 similarity before now?
ReplyDelete(slaps Woodsy repeatedly but gently about his face) ... Hello! Catch up!
By the way, I don't know the program you mention at all, Wote. But is it seriously a floating soap dish?
ReplyDeletedont actually know what it is tbh - but it could be kitbashed into something better!
ReplyDeletebtw - give Woodstock a slap from me while your at it! tut, tut
Well, my first thought before reading the comments was, "soap dish".
ReplyDeleteAnd I will slap him from you too. What has he been thinking?!? Tsk.
I love the way you guy's link this stuff together! Your archives must be the space-toy equivalent of Private Eye's filing cabinet!
ReplyDelete'Dewling'..What Tweenies do as you 'finish them off'
(waves to Maverick) ... hey, good to see you back.
ReplyDeleteBetween 'em they could probably open an extremely good toy museum. And as for the filing section ... archives to drool over ... in fact I frequently have to wipe some of their droll off before using the files. Eeeeewwwww!
I'm a great believer in stating the obvious just in case no-one else mentioned it as it's obvioulsy obvious!
ReplyDeleteMore to follow on the Nuclear Frieghter-Thunderbird 2 affair!
