A reader currently has these wonderful 1960's planes for auction on Ebay UK. Clifford is a wonderful toy brand and I'm surprised that they never had a crack at cloning a SWORD toy such as the Space Glider. They did have a go at their version of Spacex called Moon Traffic. Anyways, feast your eyes:
CLIFFORD GENERAL DYNAMICS F111
Item description (only part of): This rare (battery operated) 1960's plastic toy F111 was made by Clifford and I believe is similar to a Japanese tin toy from the same period. It measures approx 40 cm long. This is tested and working. It drives forward with the engines flashing and the wings swing slowly in and out. The front wheel is steerable."
CENTURY 21 "H" CLIFFORD BOEING 707
Item Description (only part of) "This (battery operated) toy was made by 'H' of Hong Kong. .....The engines flash as the plane drives forward. ......The front wheel is steerable."
We've come across the "H" brand before on the blog during our discussions about JR21 and similar logo's, where we established that the JR21 TB5 is branded H.
The 'H' brand appears to be formally linked with Century 21 toys. Has anybody else got any 'H' toys?
Woodsy, Interested to see the Clifford F-111 particularly the box art.I recognised it right away as a copy of the first issue box art for the Revell kit of the F-111. They have changed it though, As the aircraft in back has Air Force markings wereas on the Revell box it is in Navy markings as at the time it was being considered for both the Navy & Air Force. I've got an image of the box art that I'll send you to compare.
