VINTAGE GERRY ANDERSON RIFLES MADE IN BRITAIN

There are many vintage British toy pistols associated with Gerry Anderson's TV shows but only two rifles made in Britain that I can think of. 

Both are real things of beauty!

First up, the wonderful Lone Star Captain Scarlet Rifle.

I've posted a few things about the pistol used [check out the Flash Gordon connection] but any more info or pictures about the whole rifle would be most welcome. The box is at the back.

Second, the amazing Crescent Toys Thunderbirds Rifle.

This black and white advert is the only picture I can find of this toy gun. Was it ever in production? Is it made from an older toy?

Again, any other pictures of info would be welcomed.

MOON SHOTS

As it was fairly clear skies last night, and the crescent Moon looked very bright, I thought I'd take a closer look with my trusty Celestron.

I'd love to live in a dark sky area, but not to be, and being on the edge of the town centre, the light pollution is always bit of a problem, but as there are less cars about at the moment that does work in my favour.

I attached the camera to the telescope and  took a few photos of the crescent Moon with some nice detail showing on the edge of the terminator. Obviously my equipment is very much at the beginners end, so clarity is an issue, but even so its interesting looking out across the sea of space at an island I'm never likely to visit.

Here's  another shot from the back garden showing the Moon and Venus.

I was excited by Paul Adams' recent post of the amazing Mechanical Fish toy, the coolest weird toy I'd never seen before, but also because of one of the other toys depicted on the side of the box.

This is probably old news to Swordies, but that Space Combat Car toy was a design recycled in a few other products, two of which I am familiar with.

Firstly, there was a wonderful Midori plastic model kit called Planetoid Echo 7, a model I built and enjoyed several times over the years. Next, there was a Hong Kong toy called Echo Car, also a crude kit, which seems to be a scaled down version of the Midori Echo 7.

Anyways, I gathered up all the pix I could find of these two groovy toys and submit them for possible blog inclusion.

THE NAME'S BOND. BROOKE BOND!

As I said, the silly season of submissions!

After all those HOT WHEELS here's a fine British Product. (Made in China of course)

From the 90's before Brooke Bond dropped Chimps as their image. Could it be they didn't like the association with Planet of the Apes?

In 1996 they were still proud of 40 years of Chimps in their advertising.

Here are all six Bump and Go Racing Cars. Take that for play value Mattel.

STAR FORCE STAR WARS KNOCKOFF

I see a lot of Star Wars knockoffs.

I don't often see Spanish knockoffs but here's the Star Force carded set by Padro Miras.

It appears to involve caps.
