SPORTS CAR LIGHTER

Hi

This is a novelty cigarette lighter that I bought several years ago. Having never smoked (more money left for models) I have no need for a lighter, but I could not resist this one. It is a modern sports car, perhaps a Ferrari ? It is a dull silver, with a bright chrome windscreen, clear yellow headlights, red taillights, black on yellow rear number plate ZD-8888.

There is a small badge in the centre of the bonnet, which I cannot read. Black plastic wheels, with chrome hubs. The left rear is broken in half, which is why I was able to get it cheap. Never used it, but it is great fun. The entire nose section of the car, forward of the windscreen, flips to the side to expose the actual lighter. About the size of a Hot Wheels car.

PIPPIN TOYS DOWN ON THE FARM SET

 I recently saw this vintage toy set by Pippin in a charity shop.

Down on the Farm.

A large boxed farm set with stylized animals and buildings.

I managed to undo one of the taped-up sides for a look inside.

The toy reference number is 1147.

At £12.95 it was too dear for me to get.

JADA HARRY POTTER

I just found another Hollywood Nano Rides set from Jada Toys. While most of the die-cast Nano Rides sets of mini models contain three vehicles, this Harry Potter set only has two. 

The famous flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and the very tall Knight Bus from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

These are mounted in a clear plastic blister, on a backing card that shows a young Harry Potter in his Hogwarts robes. Made in China.

The Anglia is light blue with a white roof, silver trim, and red rear lights. The windows are printed on in black. Black plastic wheels.

The triple-decker Knight Bus is purple, with black and silver detailing, and silver printed windows. The destination boards are white on black - Knight Bus at the front, and All Destinations (nothing underwater) on the sides and at the rear. Black plastic wheels.

I had to look twice at this.

Its a black Explorer 12 vehicle called Alpha Explorers.

Its got the features of the classic BHS Explorer 12.

Its by Supertoys.

I saw it online ages ago and saved the pics for Moonbase.

ED'S JFK BEDSPREAD

I was preparing a blog post about playing Cowboys and Indians and I thought you might be interested in this little snippet of my past. 

Not long before these photo's were taken in Dec 1965 my room had been all decked out in a Roy Rogers theme. In the first photo - which I'd sent previously - you can just make out the lamp to the right, which I believe was a Roy Rogers lamp.

However, it's the second photo that I want to highlight. By 1965 my room was transitioning from Cowboys and Indians to patriotic and JFK. (BTW "Fritz" - as referenced on the back of the photo - was my family's nickname for me growing up - still is actually. Long story!

 Bessie, the canary-yellow Edwardian roadster was first seen in the third Doctor story, Doctor Who and The Silurians, is in reality a 1954 Ford Popular 103E on a fibreglass   body, made by Siva Engineering of Dorset.

This is the Corgi Version with a seated Tom Baker Doctor Who figure with a Character Options Giant Robot in the background.

A driverless Bessie was released as part of the 40^th Anniversary’ The Three Doctors’ gift set in 2003.

MEGO FLASH GORDON AND MING AT MONSTER BASE

Hi Woodsy.

After reading MJ's hilarious contribution ,I have to show this great Mego Flash Gordon Playset I found at a Flea Market. I only opened one side and decided to take it, since the price was so cheap. Little did I know that the other side contained 2 action figures! The Dr. Zarkov is in really good condition. The Merciless One, though still good, has a few discolored spots on his clothes and is missing one of his 2 hats. So in conclusion, A dirty, bald Minge is better than none at all!-
