WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE BIKKIES?

Bikkies are a treasure trove of delights and have been my whole life. Much more important and prolific than cakes, biscuits have been a constant crumby friend.

Like the munching public that eat them, bikkies come in every shape and size and did when I was a kid too.

Weekly packets I would find in the barrel back then would be dry lovelies like Arrowroot, Malted Milk, Nice, Currant Shortcake and so on.

Some have been unwrapped for the last time too. Viscounts, can you still get those? Rondelloes, for the discerning muncher and definately vanished. Any more crumby casualties?

So which are your favourite biscuits readers? How do you take them? With tea, coffee or just plain dry?

Following the ad for Pyro Plastics dino kits, here are a couple tucked away in the pages of this fantastic Hamleys catalogue from the late sixties. I always loved the purple plastic! I wouldn't mind that Russian Missile launcher either!

PYRO MONSTERS BY MAIL ORDER

Woodsy,

Inspired by your summer post about mail-order companies, I dug out one of my flyers for America's Hobby Center, a mail-order business based in New York City that primarily sold model railroad equipment. 

However, they also sold other stuff, like unusual model kits, and I attach a scan of a page of these kits, plus a close-up of those glorious Pyro "Prehistoric Monsters" models. Enjoy!

MJ'S CAPTAIN KIRK

Hi Woodsy, a customer of mine who works at B+M gave me this Mego re-release Captain Kirk figure.

It's as I remember except the color of his face and the paint job are slightly off, so with barely enough time for the blister pack to hit the floor I set about improving his face, while his face mold is not 100% I've certainly improved his demeanor, although he's still troubled by tribbles!

OUTER SPACE WOMEN

 When I was a kid I adored Colourforms Outer Space Man. I had series 1. Alas all went the way of the trash in the early Seventies. I can't believe I didn't even keep one!

Anyways, things have moved on and the fan base for Outer Space Men has grown, particularly in the US where new companies like the Four Horse Men and new figures have emerged.

The new figures even include Outer Space Women, which certainly wasn't the case in the 1960's. There are lots of modern OSM ladies and I've picked two from the internet to highlight here.

First up is Terra Firma, the Woman from Earth.

It reminds me of a female version of Major Matt himself.

Do you like her?

Second is Astrodite, the Woman from Venus.

Astrodite appears to be based on the original Series 1 Commander Comet the man from Venus.
