CAR BOOT TOY PARTS IDENTITY PARADE

Last month I netted these little morsels at the local outdoor sale.

After a bit of googling and help from Wotan I managed to get an ID for most of the parts and toys.

Here goes. Look for the bit ringed in white. If you know any please let me know!

Matchbox Super Kings K-20 Cargo Hauler yellow barrels

Key ring figure - unknown. No makers mark. The boy has an odd contraption on his raised hand.

Hot Wheels red atomic waste container. The rest is a mystery.

Vintage green and yellow and blue pre-school figure. origin unknown.

Red traffic cone. Origin unknown.

Small plastic silver and blue space vehicle by Bruder of West Germany.

Matchbox Volvo truck Co-op container.

Matchbox Rod Roller. How cool is that!

and thanks to Wotan, the strange die-cast space car is part of this unusual Quad Car by Creata dated 1982.

NOGGIN THE NOG GETS A STATUE

Hi Woodsy,

I found a few more horror items by Noch for HO model railways, this time modern Zombies (is the big guy Tor Johnson?) and a Hunchback and Beautiful Girl set clearly based on the Hunchback of Notre Dame -

 it even includes Gargoyles. I wonder how many model railway layouts actually include these figures ? Or are they just to be collected, and displayed ?

PLASTICRAFT ATOMIC AGE CAR

I keep seeing this atomic age toy car design. I'm sure I've seen it before. Is it connected to Dan Dare?

WE REALLY ARE GOING TO NEED A BIGGER BOAT

Not sure where I got to with mine and mutt's movie watching. We've seen a fair old few on an evening last week courtesy of Amazon Prime. Here's the highlights.

Angel Has Fallen: the third in the Fallen franchise starring This is Sparta himself, Gerard Butler. He's as tough as old boots is Butler and erstwhile tough guy Nick Nolte even gets a welcome look-in here. The last time I saw him was in an ancient Hulk flick. Angel is basically like the first two Fallens. Bad guys want the President dead. Butler doesn't like their attitude and tells them in no uncertain terms. Its an explosive relationship and you can switch your brain off whilst you watch the fireworks. if you like Liam Neesan's Taken or Keanu Reeve's John Wick then Angel has Fallen is one to catch.

Jobs: this is a biographical film dramatising the life Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, the most valuable company in the world and computer pioneers. It focuses on Jobs's early years knocking around with buddy Steve Wozniak in college and their love of tinkering with keyboards and circuitry in a garage. Both of them went on to found Apple and revolutionise the home computer scene with the Apple II. Like that other biog movie concerning a tech giant, The Social Network, Jobs peers under the motherboard and reveals the tensions and bitter rivalries behind the screens. I was struck how in both films these two virtuosoes, Jobs and Zuckerberg of tech are portrayed as socially awkward and generally quite odd and the two actors, Kutcher and Eisenberg, bring this out. I don't know how true this eccentricity is but Jobs has whet my appetite for another flick about him starring Michael Fassbender called, Steve Jobs!

The Meg: despite a general avoidance of Jason Stathan flicks, I'm primarily a monster nut. So when a 50 foot prehistoric Megaladon surfaces I just had to watch. When the fish eventually appears The Meg really does deliver and we get a lot of shark for our bucks. Some of the imagery is stunning and one shot of a tint Statham facing the gigantic Meg under the ocean looked really terrific. A cut above other monster shark flicks like Sharknado, the Meg is a must for kaiju fans and the thought of it battling Godzilla is my new screen-cracking fantasy! I wonder if there are any Meg toys?

Have modified a kit of a Westland Lysander into the twin tailed version, the Wendover I dug out a kit of an aircraft designed as a twin tail that I have been waiting years to build. 

The Grumman Skyrocket like the Wendover never went into production beyond a prototype but the design inspired the artists who created BLACKHAWK.

I loved this comic as a kid, there was a British b/w reprint which truly showed the art at it's best.

Attached are scans from the earlier stories from the war years showing the Skyrocket.

IN PRAISE OF POT NOODLES: THE FOOD OF MARS MISSIONS

OK, you either love 'em or hate' em but I like 'em! 

Yep, Pot Noodles, those processed beakers of space food hydrated with water like sea monkeys, are part of my diet. 

I say diet. I mean my intake. Chicken and Mushroon, Beef and tomato, its all good and for a lazy so and so like me it's a no brainer. I even recycle the foil lid and the plastic pot.

Handy for hectic work, lunches where there's always a kettle and a tap or at home for those 'I really CBA' days [like today!] the Pot Noodle is the go-to dried meal.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're the first grub scoffed on Mars, whenever we get there. Those Martionauts will just love filling their pots up to the line after a hard hungry slog to the red planet.

Who knows, futuristic pots might include super foods like Kelp, tiger nuts and God forbid, locusts, where even I draw the line!
