THE MYSTERON TOY SPACE CAR

This is a weird toy I found in my photo archive from 2013, the Mysteron by Marushin of Japan. I first thought that the middle vehicle was a copy of a blue Forklift 7 from the SpaceX range. Even thought it isn't its a strange space car. Lets create action of yourself!

THIS CHARMING MAN: ACTION MAN GUNS ON A VENDING CARD

Continuing my sporadic grab of vending toys, here's two more carded sets I saw on the Bay. One called Space Force and the other Fat Cars!

The only items I actually recognise are the two small pistols to the left. They are copies of an Action Man Lugar and a flare gun.

You recognise anything else readers?

REMOTE CHANCE: THE SOUND CONTROL MYSTERY OF THE 2001 SPACE GLIDER

In the 1990's I picked up an orange 2001 NASA Space Glider in a box. It had a polystyrene box base and a card lid. It also had a sound control function but no remote.

A few years ago I saw this version on the bay, more or less the same as mine. This one has a strange rugby ball shaped remote control though, which I assume you click somehow to control the spacecraft.

Just recently I saw another similar Glider. This one has no branding on it [fallen off?] but has the same rugby ball controller!

Does anyone have a remote like this? How do they work? Are there any other similar Gliders with standard radio controls?

THE TOY ART OF RANDY REGIER

After discussing man dogs with Bill on holiday [as seen in episode 1 of TV's awesome new Jekyll and Hyde] I found Tardy the Man Pony.

This fellow is allover the net and I have often dismissed him as someone's joke action figure, 'Tardy' presumably referring to the fact that he's late for Noah's Ark as shown on the box. 

It took some rooting around to find the truth. Rather than a joke toy its a piece of art done by an American artist called Randy Regier.

I have spent an enjoyable half hour this morning looking over Randy's brill website and I can see why his amazing sculptures are so appealing. You have to look twice. Randy has made everything. Tinged with modern irony, many are stunningly beautiful. Just look at his Machine to Dispel Sadness X-1.

His tin space toys like the Smoking Astronaut and Nu Penny toy stores are amazing - these installations may have popped-up near you our US readers? - as are further fun custom jobs like John Manschaft and New Dog.

His larger installation from 2003 called Fire Fly Space Ship reminds me totally of the front end of the Nuclear Ferry!

MY PROJECT SWORD TOY FLEET ALTOGETHER WITH THE NUCLEAR FERRY FOR THE LAST TIME

As my loan of the Project SWORD Nuclear Ferry toy is coming to an end I thought I would re-post the pictures I took recently of it as part of my complete SWORD fleet. I do have some more pictures of it to blog as well but its days at Moonbase are nearly over. It has been a real pleasure to have had the rare Nuclear Ferry in my fleet for the last 12 months or so and I wish it well on the next stage of its journey across time.

Displaying a large group of toys at home like this for a day is a lot of fun especially when its for other people coming round. I've done it three times now. How best to temporarily display it is a good question though. 

Its easily answered for me as we only have one table big enough but how would you do it readers if you got a whole collection out of storage for someone to look at?
