THUNDERBIRD 3 LAUNCH BAY BY ANDY ROLFE

I really liked this Thunderbird 3 model and excellent diorama on display at Andercon.

The whole thing, which was made by Andy Rolfe, was built using a plastic drum  with a section cut away.

The model is only around 18" tall but you wouldn't believe it from this photo. 

I really like the detail.

There's even a tiny Alan Tracy about to board.

RUNNING MAN

One of the strangest things I ever sold on the bay was this clothes shop mannequin! For the listing I photographed him 'running' in our garden! Can't recall how it did but I remember someone from a shop coming to pick him up from some distance away.

If only I'd have had life-size Action Man kit and accessories to dress him up in I would have kept him! Hmm, that reminds me, there is a life size Action Man in a film. But which one?

JAPANESE OMAKE ASTRONAUTS

A while back I found this picture of a yellow LP style astronaut on Yahoo Japan. He's the character we nicknamed Party Four I think. I wondered if he was some sort of small gift, like a vending toy. In Japan small vending and candy toys are called Omake.

Well, it looks like my hunch was correct. Here's a bunch of omake with their box and look who's standing tall at the rear. Yep, our friend who I think we called Jack Hammer on account of his road drill. 

The little grey car even looks a bit like the front end of FAB1. Two whistles and a fish complete the bundle of joy. Picture courtesy of Yahoo Japan too.

EAGLE TRANSPORTER: EXTRA LARGE

Andercon was packed with dozens of models from Gerry Anderson's many series. With the amount of techinical info available on line nowadays the vast majority of model makers now build their models to studio scale, some of which are meticulous in their detail.

However, modellers Andrew Grimshaw and Jeff Gaskell have built a Laboratory Eagle twice the size of the largest original studio Eagle.

This huge model is a whooping 88", and even though it isn't finished yet, and is very much a work in progress, it still looks very impressive.

The only problem I can think of is where's he going put it when it's finished!
