Woodsy,
Here is a photo overview of GIANT's line of HO scale space toys.
I loved GIANT as a kid and had a nice selection of their toys, except the space stuff!
I don't even recall seeing their space toys in the stores, but I did have Romans, Vikings, American Civil War, and Old West sets. They were cheap pocket change toys and small carded sets could be bought for only 29¢. Larger sets could put you back a whole dollar or so.

I have included this photo showing GIANT and Tri-ang together for comparison.

I do not recall having any of these Giant toys, or even seeing any of them in New Zealand. Great article.
ReplyDeleteThanx Paul! These were wonderful toys that were available nearly everywhere you went over here. They were being sold right across the street from our house in the supermarket and in the corner drug store.
DeleteYes, great article Ed, thanks for sharing. Its a lovely space range and one that passed me by completely as a nipper, although the alien looks familiar - I may have had a googley-eyed silver blow moulded version. I love the vehicles, they're very LP! And the space station, oh the space station! Wow!
ReplyDeleteGiant of Hong Kong was among my favorite range of toys Woodsy and I have been busy as heck the past few years trying to get what I can (at a reasonable cost - barring rare items). Yes, the vehicles would fit in well with the LP or small Marx vehicles.
